Lymphedema Management Program

The St. Francis Lymphedema Management Program benefits patients recovering from injury, surgical trauma, chronic conditions, inflammation and edema. A therapist certified in Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) applies rhythmic massage techniques using repetitive, precise hand movements applied lightly in the direction of lymph flow. MLD accelerates and improves functioning of the patient's lymphatic system.

Primary Lymphedema (Praecox or Tarda)

  • Lymphatic aplasia
  • Milroy's disease

Secondary Lymphedema Post-cancer Related

  • Hysterectomy
  • Lymph node dissections
  • Mastectomy
  • Melanoma
  • Ovarian

  • Radiation

Non-cancer Related
