Patient Guide

Because we want you to feel as comfortable as possible with your care, St. Francis offers a variety of services to meet your needs during your stay at the Health Center.

We hope that the following tips and services will assist you in planning for a visit or inpatient stay with us:

  • On your first visit to St. Francis, you will need to stop at the registration desk at the main entrance where admitting clerks will request basic information from you such as insurance coverage, family members and beneficiaries.
  • Remember to bring any papers your physician has given you, your insurance card and any other related forms.

St. Francis is required by law to ask whether you have a living will or durable power of attorney for health care decisions. You are not required to have either document, but if you do, please bring them with you. Your instructions can be followed only if copies of these documents are in your medical file. If you have questions or would like help with these documents, please call the Spiritual Care Department for specific information about what must be included in living wills or durable powers of attorney. Download and print a copy of our health care directives in PDF format for your convenience.

The document above is available as a printable (PDF) file using Adobe Acrobat. If you do not already have an Adobe Acrobat Reader, download a free copy now from Adobe Acrobat.

Before you come to stay with us at St. Francis, it is important that you understand your rights and responsibilities. We invite you to read our Patient Rights & Responsibilities here online.

Spiritual Care Department

Our Spiritual Care Department offers emotional and spiritual support to patients and families by offering counseling, maintaining resources about ethical issues and making referrals to the patient's pastor, the Health Center's Clinical Resource Management Department, Nursing Services and others who may be of assistance.

Clinical Resource Management

If needed, a social worker will help you assess social, emotional or economic problems created or intensified by your surgery, injury or illness. The social worker shares information with patients and family members about community resources and educational and support groups. The social worker can assist you in dealing with financial concerns you may have or counsel you to ease emotional strains.

Cell Phones

Cell phones emit radio frequencies that can disrupt medical care by interfering with electronic equipment. Even while in standby mode, cell phones emit frequencies; therefore, they should be turned off each time you enter any medical facility, including St. Francis Health Center, to eliminate risk of interference. In fact, cell phone use at a medical facility may activate or turn off alarms or monitors, cause ventilators to shut down or cause infant warmers and incubators to overheat.
