Recovery Center to Close
May 5, 2008
St. Francis Health Center will close the Recovery Center at St. Francis, its outpatient addiction treatment services program, on June 1.
Since 1984, the Recovery Center at St. Francis has provided high-quality addiction treatment and counseling services for patients and family members coping with chemical dependency and gambling problems.
For 24 years, the center has offered a comprehensive array of clinical services and support groups to help people struggling with addictions. In the spring of 2007, staff members participated in a values‑based, decision-making process that focused on the program’s future, given changes in reimbursement levels and the availability of chemical dependency services from other local providers. They identified and implemented several program changes during the past year.
However, with fewer resources available, we made the difficult decision to close the center and focus our efforts on growing needs for acute care and charity care. Patients, referring physicians and other health care providers are being notified of the closure. Patients will continue to be seen through May 31.
The Recovery Center at St. Francis, 4646 NW Fielding Road, has been an integral part of the St. Francis mission to improve the health and well-being of the community, and we know that many people have benefited from the expertise and compassionate care of our clinicians.
