Ever since he was little, Dr. Douglas Koehn, MD, FAAFP, loved science, problem-solving, and his pets. It was this inquisitive nature and deep compassion that let him to pursue a career in medicine later on. Today, in his Family Medicine practice, Douglas works with patients of all ages to find out what makes them work, or not work. And together, they develop a plan to prevent future health problems by improving their lifestyle - and becoming happier, healthier people as a result.
In fact, the thing that drew Douglas to St. Francis was the empathy and care that the entire team - from physicians to administrators - has for their patients and the community. When he’s not at the hospital, Douglas enjoys walking, hiking, yardwork, and swimming with his wife - Dr. Mica Newman-Koehn, also a physician - and their four grown children. Douglas received his degree from the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Illinois, Rockford.
