St. Francis Health Establishes Women’s Heart Clinic
New Clinic to Bring Women’s Heart Health to Forefront
Topeka – St. Francis Health has established the Women’s Heart Clinic, dedicated to screening, preventing and treating heart disease in women. According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the number one killer of women, causing one in three deaths per year.
Located in the St. Francis Health Heart and Vascular Center, 600 SW College Ave., the Women’s Heart Clinic is led by Topeka’s only female cardiologist, Swapna Mamidipally, MD.
“As a cardiologist, it baffles me that more women die of heart attacks than cancer, yet there is very little awareness,” said Dr. Mamidipally. “I strongly feel that it is not acceptable to let so many women die of heart disease if it can be avoided with simple awareness, regular check-ups and leading a healthy lifestyle.”
In partnership with HeartCaring®, a Spirit of Women® program, the Women’s Heart Clinic at St. Francis Health offers:
- Comprehensive early detection for women at risk for heart disease.
- On-site diagnostic cardiac testing for patients experiencing symptoms of heart disease.
- A dedicated team of professionals to help women take action to prevent heart disease.
- Preventive cardiology programs, like smoking cessation and weight management, designed to support a healthy lifestyle.
“As a woman, I feel I can connect with other women easily and spread this message,” Dr. Mamidipally said. “I want to contribute to raising awareness and to providing quality cardiac care to women.”
The Women’s Heart Clinic is located in the St. Francis Health Heart and Vascular Center, 600 SW College Ave. Call 784-233-9643 to schedule an appointment.
