Geri Towndrow will lead nursing safety and quality for multi-state health system

Denver, CO  (May 5, 2015) – SCL Health is pleased to appoint Geri Towndrow, a longtime nursing executive, as its first system Chief Nursing Officer. In this role, Towndrow will set strategic direction for nursing quality and safety for the system’s eight hospitals and other healthcare services.

Towndrow came to SCL Health in November 2011, serving as Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer at Lutheran Medical Center, in Wheat Ridge. In her time there she introduced numerous innovations and improvements that have made measurable differences in quality.

She has more than 30 years of nursing leadership experience. Prior to joining SCL Health, she served in executive nursing roles at Methodist Hospital in Sacramento, Calif.; Mercy Hospital Folsom in Folsom, Calif.; and Providence Medford Medical Center in Medford, Ore. She also formerly served as Administrative Director of Penrose Community Hospital / Penrose-St. Francis Health Services in Colorado Springs.

She is a registered nurse with a master’s degree in organizational management.

“Geri’s reputation for turning bright ideas into actions that produce results has benefited so many of our patients at Lutheran Medical Center,” said Michael Taylor, SCL Health’s Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer, Hospital Operations. “We are excited for the great things to come as she uses that expertise to serve our many other patients across our system.”

SCL Health, which operates hospitals in Colorado, Montana and Kansas, is nationally recognized for its quality, most recently being named among the top 20 percent of health systems nationwide by Truven Health Analytics.

Towndrow will be responsible for building upon those strengths as the organization aspires to be one of the very best places to get care.
