Women's Heart Clinic
Your heart. Our focus.
Evidence shows heart disease is the number one killer of women, causing one in three deaths each year. At St. Francis Health, we don’t take these statistics lightly. That’s why we’ve created the Women’s Heart Clinic at St. Francis Heart & Vascular Center. At the clinic, we’re fully dedicated to meet the unique needs of female patients at risk for heart disease, and we provide full range of treatment options for women already diagnosed with heart disease.
Since women's hearts are different from men's, the treatment for heart disease is different, too. That’s why we certify physicians, through the HeartCaring program, who are dedicated to gender-sensitive treatment of cardiovascular diseases and conditions. Through this program, the physicians have received female-specific education and training on the current knowledge and recommendations for preventing, diagnosing and treating heart disease in women.
Our clinic is led by the only female cardiologist in Topeka, Swapna Mamidipally, MD. With her expertise and our impactful partnership with the HeartCaring program, we offer the following:
- Comprehensive early detection for women who could be at risk for heart disease, but have not been diagnosed.
- On-site diagnostic cardiac testing for patients who are experiencing symptoms of heart disease.
- A dedicated team of professionals that help women take action to prevent heart disease.
- Preventive cardiology programs, like smoking cessation and weight management, designed to support a healthy lifestyle.
