Cancer Support Groups

Cancer support groups assist patients and their families and friends in focusing on living and the quality of a person's life rather than on dying and life's duration. St. Francis offers oncology support groups for persons coping with cancer.

Bosom Buddies
Meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month for dinner at Perkins Restaurant, 1720 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka. Contact Jo Ann Knutson at 785.230.4143.

Breast Cancer Support Group
Meets at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month at the Cancer Center, second floor of St. Francis Health. This is an educational and support group for those living with breast cancer and the significant people in their lives. Participants are encouraged to attend at any point in the diagnosis and treatment journey. Sponsored by St. Francis Health. Gynecologic Cancer Support Group
This group meets at 10 a.m. the first Saturday of the month in the St. Francis Cancer Center, second floor of St. Francis Health. This is an educational and support group for women living with any gynecologic cancer and the significant people in their lives. Participants are encouraged to attend at any point in the diagnosis, treatment and recovery journey. Sponsored by St. Francis Health and the Sue Days Ovarian Cancer Fund. Leukemia and Lymphoma Support Group

Look Good ... Feel Better
This free program helps cancer patients improve their appearance and self‑image by teaching them hands‑on beauty techniques that overcome the appearance-related side effects of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Volunteer cosmetology professionals facilitate the sessions. Meets at the Cancer Center Conference Room on the second floor of St. Francis Health. Registration is required. Call 785.273.4422.

Ostomy Support Group
This group meets from 7 to 8:30 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month in Meeting Room 4 on the second floor of St. Francis Health. For more details, contact Teresa Kellerman at 785.295.5555.

Prostate Cancer Support Group
Meets from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month in the Cancer Center conference room located on the second floor of St. Francis Health. This support program helps men, their wives or significant others and families cope with prostate cancer. This group is sponsored by St. Francis Health. Reach to Recovery
This is a free program from the American Cancer Society for women who have had, will have or are currently receiving breast cancer treatment.
