Specific Cancers
Cancer is a group of more than 100 diseases characterized by an abnormal growth of cells that destroys body tissue instead of building up and repairing it. Benign tumors are not cancerous and seldom life threatening. Often, they can be removed by surgery and are not likely to return. Malignant tumors are cancerous and can grow and spread through the bloodstream, through the lymphatic system and to other parts of the body, forming new tumors.
