Wound Care Program
Our comprehensive interdisciplinary wound care team works with the patient and family to manage and prevent wounds. In addition, this team communicates closely with the referring physician to address the nutritional, psychological and spiritual needs of the patient. St. Francis established the first wound care program in the Topeka service area.
The wound care team consists of:
- Patient and family
- Consulting physicians in infectious disease, endocrinology and/or surgery
- Dietitian
- Enterostomal therapist
- Medical director
- Occupational therapist
- Orthotist
- Physical therapist
- Psychologist
Individuals experiencing the following types of wounds would benefit from the St. Francis Wound Care Program:
- Arterial ulcers
- Burns
- Diabetic/neuropathic ulcers
- Pressure ulcers
- Venous ulcers
The Wound Care Program provides a comprehensive line of services, including:
- Anodyne therapy
- Dressing changes
- Lymphedema management
- Medication management
- Surgical debradement
