Community Health Needs Assessment
The IRS has set new requirements for non-profit (Section 501(c) (3)) hospitals that include completing a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA). St. Francis Health, Stormont-Vail Healthcare and the Shawnee County Health Agency conducted the Shawnee County Community Health Needs Assessment in 2012 and published results in 2013. The CHNA is important to St. Francis Health’s mission of improving the health of the people and communities we serve. Our leadership is dedicated to ensuring that our combined efforts are focused on the health issues most important to the people in our region. We will conduct a CHNA every three years and adopt an action plan to meet the community health needs identified through the assessment.

Based on this assessment, St. Francis Health has identified three focus areas for impacting community health:
- Healthy Eating and Active Living
- Improving Access to Healthcare Services
- Healthy Babies
